History of Uzbekistan

The Jadid movement was an educational and political trend that emerged in Turkestan at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. Its main goal was to awaken the people through science and culture, to reform old methods of education, and to develop national consciousness. The Jadids opened new schools, were active in the press and literature, and paved the way for the ideas of freedom.

Uzbek ethnography studies the historical roots of our people, their unique customs and rituals, traditional economic activities, as well as their material and spiritual culture. The Uzbek people are among the most ancient ethnoses of Central Asia, and their ethnography plays an important role in restoring historical memory and strengthening national identity.
