In April 2025, at the initiative of the Alisher Navo’i Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature, an “Uzbekistan Corner” was officially opened at Ca’ Foscari University in Venice, Italy. The newly established cultural space showcases books on Uzbek culture, literature, history, and contemporary development, along with national souvenirs that reflect the country’s rich cultural heritage. The initiative aims to promote Uzbekistan more widely within the Italian academic community.

The opening ceremony was attended by Professor Nozliya Normurodova, Vice-Rector for Research, Innovation, and International Cooperation at the Alisher Navo’i Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature. In her remarks, she emphasized that the “Uzbekistan Corner” symbolizes the strong and friendly partnership between the two universities and serves as an important platform for bringing younger generations closer through science, education, and culture.

This initiative represents a logical continuation of the cooperation between the Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature and Ca’ Foscari University, previously established within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme. The partnership focuses on developing joint research activities, integrating innovative technologies into academic studies, and expanding academic mobility for faculty members and students.

Special attention was given to the long-standing cooperation with the renowned Italian Turkologist, Professor Elisabetta Ragagnin, who has visited Tashkent on several occasions and delivered lectures on Turkology and the development of this field in Europe.

The opening of the “Uzbekistan Corner” marks an important step not only in promoting the Uzbek language and culture among international students, but also in integrating Uzbekistan’s higher education system into the global academic space, enhancing the international visibility of the Uzbek language, and strengthening cultural and diplomatic ties.

As part of the activities held at the “Uzbekistan Corner,” Durdona Ermatova, a teacher at the “Uzbek School” affiliated with the Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature, conducted practical classes on the Uzbek language and culture for students of the Department of Asian and North African Studies at Ca’ Foscari University. Over the course of one month, she delivered regular Uzbek language classes, introducing students to the phonetic and grammatical features of the language, its rich vocabulary, as well as the history and culture of the Uzbek people through modern pedagogical approaches.
